CURBSIDE SOLID WASTE PROGRAM RESIDENTIAL SOLID WASTE COLLECTION: Weekly solid waste collection includes three carts supplied to you by your hauler: G.I. Industries, 522-9400 Moorpark Rubbish Disposal, 526-1919 Trash goes in your Blue cart, Recyclables go in your Gray cart, and Yard Waste goes in your Green cart. Your hauler provides these carts to ensure safe, swift, and sanitary removal of your waste. Place the carts on the curb, with the metal cross bar facing the street. Allow at least 18 inches of clearance between carts and three feet clearance from parked vehicles. Contact your hauler to order additional carts or exchange your cart for a different size. See below for guidelines on what can be recycled. Service is mandatory and must be provided by the designated franchise hauler in your area. The 2010 standard collection monthly fee is $25.95. Super Recycler and Senior (62 years and older) discount rates are available. Contact your hauler for more information. HOLIDAY COLLECTION SCHEDULE: On the Holidays listed below there is no collection service. Residential refuse collection days that fall on a holiday will be picked up on the following day, and for the remainder of that week, all refuse collection will be one day behind the regular schedule. For instance, if a holiday falls on Monday, Monday routes will be collected on Tuesday, Tuesday routes on Wednesday, and so on. Friday routes will be collected on Saturday. This allows the workers who serve you all year at the hauling companies, landfills, and recycling facilities, to enjoy these holidays with their families and loved ones. Your cooperation and understanding are appreciated. HOLIDAYS WITH NO COLLECTION SERVICE Landfills and Material Recovery Centers are closed. Your solid waste collection will be One Day Later for the rest of the week after the Holiday. New Years Day - Friday - January 1, 2010 Memorial Day - Monday - May 28, 2010 Labor Day - Monday - September 6, 2010 Thanksgiving Day - Friday - November 26, 2010 GRAY CART: RECYCLABLE MATERIALS:  Recyclable Paper Products: Almost all clean dry paper can be recycled including; cardboard (cardboard cereal boxes with liners removed); computer and ledger paper; brochures; magazines and newspapers including the shiny paper ads and coupons; catalogs; phone books; tissue boxes; wrapping paper; and junk mail. Non-Recyclable Paper Products: Do not recycle wet, greasy, or dirty paper such as food wrappers, paper towels, paper plates, or tissues. Also, waxed paper and carbon paper are not recyclable. Recyclable Plastics: Any plastic product with a number “1” (PETE), or “2” (HDPE). These numbers include beverage containers; water & milk jugs; laundry, detergent and shampoo bottles with caps and lids removed. Also, the following plastics have been added to the list of approved recyclable items: “3” (V); “4” (LDPE) which includes most plastic bags; “5” (PP), and “6” (PS).
Non-Recyclable Plastics: “7” (Other) plastic labeled products are not recyclable as well as Styrofoam, plastic toys, or toothpaste tubes. 
Recyclable Metal: Aluminum cans, food cans or beverage cans (rinsed out), clean aluminum foil, and completely empty Aerosol cans. Non-Recyclable Metal Goods: Items like table ware, window frames, paper clips and nails, as well as non-ferrous metals (i.e. aluminum, tin, copper, zinc, and brass).
Recyclable Glass Items: Bottles and jars, all colors, including cosmetic bottles. Rinse jars lightly to remove food and other residues from bottles. Avoid breakage! Non-Recyclable Glass Items: Light bulbs, drinking glasses, ceramics, window glass, or mirrors. 
GREEN CART: YARD TRIMMINGS RECYCLING: Recycle yard trimmings such as grass clippings, leaves, plant material, horse manure, brush, tree limbs, and small pieces of unpainted or unstained wood. Yard trimmings should be placed in your green yard trimmings container. The cost of this service is included in the regular trash disposal bill. As an alternative, try “grasscycling.” For tips on how to grasscycle, check out the California Integrated Waste Management Board´s website at http://www.ciwmb.ca.gov/Organics/GrassCycling/ SOLID WASTE RATE DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE: The Senior and Super Recycler discounted monthly rate (62 years and above) is $19.19, compared to the regular rate of $25.95. These service levels have limitations: a 32-gallon Trash cart, a 64-gallon Recycling cart, and a 64-gallon Yard Trimmings cart. Contact your hauler to apply for the Senior discount or Super Recycler rate. Rates are subject to an adjustment in January. DID YOU KNOW? Residents may request their trash hauler to pick up 4 bulky items placed at the curb each year at no charge. Residents can have up to 2 collections per year, for a total of 4 items collected.
