General Information About the City of Moorpark

The City of Moorpark incorporated in July of 1983 and is conveniently located in the southeastern part of Ventura County. The City is within an hour´s drive from Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. The City is a growing community with a current population of approximately 35,000. Moorpark is consistently ranked as the safest city in Ventura County.

The City of Moorpark is governed by a Council/Manager form of government. The Mayor is elected to serve a two-year term. The four City Council members are elected at large to serve staggered four-year terms. Moorpark is a contract city, providing administrative services, community development, public works, and parks and recreation services internally.

How To Apply For A Job:

1.  Obtain and complete a "City of Moorpark Employment Application"  form, which is required for all positions.  Information about the position and an applicatIon form may be obtained:

  • By downloading the form (below) and position information (above) on this page as Adobe Acrobat documents; the form is a fillable form that you can complete on your computer. (You will need to print the form after completing it and send it by mail or deliver it in person to the address indicated below.)  You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open and print these documents. If you do not already have Adobe Reader, it is available, below, as a free download from Adobe.
  • From City Hall, located at 799 Moorpark Avenue, Moorpark, CA 93021 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • By contacting the Human Resources Office at (805) 517-6238 and requesting an application form and position information be mailed to you.

Resumes may be submitted with employment applications, however resumes do not take the place of the application form. 

An offer of employment will be conditioned on satisfactory completion of a Live Scan fingerprint procedure through the State Department of Justice and the City´s physical/drug screen procedures.  Finance positions will also require satisfactory completion of a credit report.

The City of Moorpark does not maintain applications or resumes for positions which are not open for recruitment.
